How dare you not give this “Classic” nothing but a 10/10! Just kidding, I tend to agree with your review. I was 11 when this album came out, and didn’t really even try to listen to it until I was well into college, and even then wasn’t a big fan of it. Still not a big fan of it, but it’s pretty good. I really like “In Utero” better. It was Pearl Jam’s “Vs.” that got me into “grunge” and maybe because I was a PJ fan before really listening to nirvana affects my judgement.

Hmmm, wrong. You’ve e been too influenced by the people around you. I got into Nevermind just before they broke big after reading an NME review in the days when that mattered. They were a rush. All we had before was horrible music. It was cathartic. Maybe its difficult to understand now but at the time bands like Bon Jovi were massive, this was alternative. Yes I know now that there was loads of good stuff around that Nirvana were a gateway for but at the time it didn’t feel like that. Live they were awesome, Reading 1992. Best gig ever, if you’ve seen the video I can tell you it was nothing like the real thing. A seething pulse of people like me. The album is definitely not your thing is it, you just don’t get it. No filler, check out the b-side Aneurysm for another classic. The emo dudes you hate are people I would probably despise as well, similar to the fashion thing of wearing Unknown Pleasures t-shirts without a clue about Joy Division. Bizarrely, and I know this isn’t popular, I regard Foo Fighters as not worthy enough to lick Kurt Cobain’s cardigan. why not try again, MTV Unplugged is a good entry point.
