    This blithe dismissal of the Springfield debut overlooks the fact it is the first tangible sign of blending rock with country music, all of it done without any overt concessions to style, i.e., pedal steel, fiddle etc. In that sense, it predates the Byrds’ first forays into this realm by months: the lack of accurate perspective here is appalling.
