Foreigner’s last great album IMO, I do agree the first half of the album is the stronger half of the two, my favorite tracks are “Juke Box Hero, “Break It Up”, “Waiting For A Girl Like You”, “Urgent” & the underrated “I’m Gonna Win”.

My least favorite tracks are “Luanne”, “Woman In Black” and “Don’t Let Go”, they’re pretty good songs but they just don’t stand out compared to the rest of the great songs off of the album.

During the late ’70’s I heard Foreigner often but really did not listen to Foreigner. I preferred harder-edged bands such as AC/DC, Aerosmith, and classic bands such as the Stones and Zepplin. After watching an interview with Mick Jones, I felt I needed to give them a more through listening. This band was very solid! Thanks to Jones’s bluesy Les Paul, which he handles in a very deft manner, the band rocks. True, they are not the Clash, nor were they carefree like (very early) Def Leppard, nor were they as sleazy-cool as Aerosmith (in their own early days), but they were literally the backbone of radio in the late 70’s! We NEEDED Foreigner more than we knew. This was a group with down-to-earth nice guys on top of it! Forgive them (forgive all the ’70’s bands in fact) for the 80’s!

I grew up with this album coming of age. I bought this album at age 14! Urgent was my favorite track because if the sax solo (I played saxophone in school band) and impressed the girls with my cover of this song. Memories!

This is where the band got their first taste of successful ballads and in my opinion, started the downfall of the band going deeper in that direction. By this point Mick Jones had dumped two other band members and became more controlling. It’s a shame, I would have liked to have seen what the original band could have gone on to do.
